St. Croix Valley Raceway, under the guidance of track co-owner Ron Bernhagen, has introduced a revamped championship points system for its 2013 Future Four and Pure Stock divisions. “Points are important to a lot of drivers, and we think this program is going to deepen the pool of drivers who are willing and able to compete for a track title,” stated Bernhagen. Under the “Futuristic Pure Championship” system, all drivers who take the green flag in a heat race will be given the same number of points as the feature winner for that night – through the month of June. For races held on or after July 1, normal points will be awarded for both classes.
Bernhagen expanded, “In 2013, any Future Four or Pure Stock driver that has raced with us every week will be in a tie for first place on July 1.” Continued Bernhagen, “Pure Stock and Future Four race teams are the truest representation of our sport at the grass-roots level, they are immensely important to racing’s present and future. As promoters, we have to be willing to try strategies that can help strengthen the life blood of local racing. We hope the Futuristic Pure Championship program illustrates just how much we enjoy and value their choice to race at The Valley.”
St. Croix Valley Raceway will begin its second full race season on Friday night, April 26. A full slate of events are scheduled for to 2013 season, including a return visit from the 410 IRA Sprints, two late model events, and highlighted by the second annual Open Wheel Nationals on June 28th and 29th.
As additional details come available, they will be posted on the track’s website, www.SCVRaceway.com as well as their Facebook page.
